We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's oxygen, capillary refill, blood pressure, and hear rate are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.  In addition, all pets receive intravenous fluids supplied at an appropriate rate using fluid infusion pumps.  This allow us to maintain blood pressure and to have a place to administer other medications that might be needed.  All of these things significantly improve safety for your pet.

It is just like when we we go to the dentist.  Every tooth is evaluated and measure the under the gum pockets. If needed, we do perform dental xrays.  The teeth are scaled with ultrasonic scaler and hand scaled with a curette.  The teeth are cleaned above and below the gums.  Then they are polished to a smooth service to make it harder for plaque to adhere to the enamel.  Then to harden the teeth we apply fluoride.  Finally, we chart all the pockets, any missing teeth, any broken teeth, and other areas of concern.  When you take your pet home, we will supply a tooth paste sample, toothbrush, tartar controlling food and step by step instructions teaching you how to brush your pets teeth.  Remember clean teeth mean a longer healther life for your pet.
